Lady E-Hawk Netters Split Lakes Coference Matches

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks split a pair of Lakes Conference volleyball matches Thursday night. Emmetsburg would fall 3-0 to Western Christian, but defeated Estherville Lincoln Central 3-1 to move to 6-13 on the season and 2-1 in league play.

Meeting up with Western Christian, Emmetsburg fell by game scores of 9-25, 7-25 and 13-25.

Rachel Berkland had a strong night at the net as she connected on 10 of 12 hits with two kills and blocked one shot. Kate Jackson would come away with seven to 11 hits and four kills, while adding six of seven serves with an ace, blocking one shot and digging out five shots.

Parker Traub would add five of seven hits with a kill and made two of two serves and blocked a pair of shots.

Kayla Joyce would add four os six hits with two kills and one blocked shot in the match, while Bailey Naig made one of three hits with four of four serves, three digs and one blocked shot.

Sarah Pugh made three hits with one kill and added three of three serves with two digs and handed out nine assists to her teammates.

Sarah Simington made one hit with a kill, and dug out three shots while handing out one assist. Cierra McAllister would connect on eight of nine serves and dug out three shots while Allison Freeman would connect on six of six serves and dug out two shots to round out the effort.

After Western Christian defeated ELC?3-0, Emmetsburg took on the Midgets and would claim a 3-1 win.

In the first game, Emmetsburg rallied but fell short in a 25-23 loss, but the Lady E-Hawks fought back and won the match by game scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-11.

Leading the effort for the Lady E-Hawks was Rachel Berkland with 21 of 26 hits and nine kills, along with three blocks. Bailey Naig added 19 of 25 hits with nine kills, along with five of nine serves and one ace with four blocks.

Parker Traub added 18 of 21 hits with nine kills and made 113 of 14 serves with one ace, along with one dig and one block.

Kayla Joyce had 14 of 17 hits with six kills, blocked one shots, dug out one shot and handed out one assist.

Kate Jackson made 14 of 15 hits with six kills and added 14 of 16 serves with one ace, while blocking one shot, making eight digs and handing out one assist.

Sarah Pugh added nine hits with four kills and 14 of 15 serves with four aces, while adding seven digs and 32 assists.

Cierra McAllister made 22 of 22 serves with three aces and seven digs, while Allison Freeman added 18 of 19 serves with an ace, one dig and on assist and Sarah Simington would come away with 16 digs in the outing.

The Lady E-Hawks play at Cherokee Tuesday.
