Hunter Education Course At Algona

An Iowa Hunter Safety Education Class will be offered later this month in Kossuth County.

The Hunter Education Course will be offered on Monday, August 24 for 6 – 9 p.m., Tuesday, August 25 from 6-9 p.m, Wednesday, August 26 from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday, August 27, from 6-9 p.m.

The classes Monday through Wednesday will be conducted at the Waters’ Edge Nature Center at Smith Lake, north of Algona, and the Thursday session will be held a the Izaak Walton League Club Grounds across from Smith Lake.

In order to receive certification, participants must attend all four session of the class. The Class is offered to anyone 12 years of age or older, free of charge.

The course will cover firearm handling and safety, wildlife management, survival and various other topics. Live shooting of firearms will be offered as part of the class.

The course is being sponsored by the Kossuth County Conservation Board. Pre-registration is required for participation in the course.

Once on the site, click on the Education Programs. In the gray box on the left, enter only the following:

The class will come up and you must follow the registration instructions to enroll. A manual must also be picked up at the Waters’ Edge Nature Center prior to the class.

The deadline to sign up and to pick up the participant manual is Friday, August 21 at 4:30 p.m.
