Local Youth Play In 2015 Iowa Shrine Bowl

CEDAR?FALLS – The 2015 Iowa Shrine All Star Game Saturday saw the South Squad defeat the North Squad by a score of 37-24, but memories and friendships made by the players will last a lifetime.

A pair of Palo Alto County players were among the 88 players in this year’s game, which was played at the UNI Dome at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls July 25.

Nick Chapman of Ruthven represented the Emmetsburg E-Hawks as a lineman on the North Team for the contest, while Cody Thompson of Graettinger represented Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Titans as a lineman for the North Squad as well.

The Iowa Shrine All Star Game is played annually featuring senior players who are divided into two teams who raise money for the Shrine Hospitals and Burn Centers across the United States.

The Shrine Game is sponsored by Iowa’s Shrine Temples: AbuBekr, El Kahir, Kaaba and ZaGaZig.
