Even though the spring golf season is over, the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks’ golf team earned another pair of honors from the Iowa Golf Coaches Association.

Senior Ashton Connelly was named the Class 2A Girls Player of the Year and Coach Ted Riley was named the Class 2A Girls Coach of the Year.

Connelly, the daughter of Shawn and Jennifer Connelly, helped lead Emmetsburg to a State Runner-Up finish at the 2015 Girls State Golf Tournament in Class 2A, and along the way, finished as the Runner Up Medalist in Class 2A.

Connelly also earned All-State and All-Tournament Team honors, as well as All Lakes Conference honors for her play during the season, which saw Emmetsburg also win the Lakes Conference Dual Championship and the Conference Tournament title. Additionally, Emmetsburg finished their season with a mark of 44-2, losing their only two matches to eventual state champion Alta-Aurelia.

Riley, who has coached the Lady E-Hawks for the past several years, has taken Emmetsburg to the State Tournament several times, earning a sixth and fourth place finish before this year’s runner-up placing.
