Titan Wrestlers Edged By Manson Northwest Webster
Graettinger-Terril/ Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Titans were edged by a point in a duel with Manson Northwest Webster on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Cougars earned a 37-36 win over GT/RA in the back-and-forth contest.
Starting at 285 pounds, Cody Thompson earned a 3-2 decision over Tim Butcher and at 106 pounds, Keeven Long received a win by forfeit.
The Titans would forfeit at 113 to Chase Bulten, but at 120, Sam George would be pinned by Collin Bulten in 3:54 of their match.
Eric Wedemeyer of Manson Northwest Webster collected a 12-0 Major Decision win over the Titans’ Beau Schany in the 126 pound match and at 132 pounds, Alex Hoffman lost an 11-4 decision to Kaleb Simacek.
The Titans got back on track in the 138 pound match when Ty Gibson tallied a :42 win by fall over Dylan Samuelson, but at 145 pounds, Tyler Hauge was pinned in 1:58 by Payton Rice.
Tyler Hoffman earned a 3:59 win by fall over Skyler Michalski in the 152 pound matchup and at 160, Hunter Brown earned a 5-0 decision win over Zach Desgagnes.
Trailing 24-25, the Titans got the lead as Matt McGrauth won by forfeit at 170 pounds, but at 182, Kodi Ferguson was pinned in 1:58 by Nathan Krueger and Nate Harris was pinned in 1:15 by Tanner Peterson in the 195 pound match.
The Titans got close as Kyle Long won by forfeit at 220, but came up a point short for the 37-36 loss.
GT/RA will prepare for the Class 1A Sectional Tournament this Saturday at Okoboji High School in Milford. Action starts at Noon, with the top two winners at each weight advancing to the 1A District meet on Feb. 11 at Sibley-Ocheyedan High School.
