Harriers Run Strong In Own Invitational Event

Emmetsburg’s Cross Country team hosted their own invitational meet on Monday night and continued to see good improvement in times and finishes.

The Lady E-Hawk varsity girls won their division with 38 points, finishing ahead of North Iowa and Bishop Garrigan.

Leading the way for the Lady E-Hawks was Ashley Overberg with a 16.23 clocking, good for second place. Tara Harris finished sixth with a time of 17.08, while Rachel Ruddy earned ninth place with a 17.29 effort.

Taylor Reimer was right behind with a 17.33 for tenth place and Jordan Hoyman claimed 11th place with her 17;34 effort. Alexa Naig finished 15th in a time of 18.36 and Jordan Lange finished 19th in 19.31.

Emmetsburg’s varsity E-Hawk boys finished second behind Bishop Garrigan and were paced by Nick Grandstaff’s 17.30 clocking, which was good for third place overall.


Daniel VanOosbree earned 11th place with his time of 19.25, while Carson Clark was 12th in 19.37. Jas Jamison came home in 13th place with a time of 20.30, while Cole Jackson finished 14th with a 20.34 clocking.

Lane Smith would finish with a time of 21.22 to place 16th overall and Connor Crosgrove finished with a 22.31 time to place 18th.

In the Junior Varsity competitions, the girls got an 18.04 performance from Shelby Loomis as she won the event, while Caroline Fantz turned in a time of 19.14 to place second.

Queen Mukami finished third with a 19.17 time and Madeleine Mueller finished fifth with a 19.44 clocking.

Alison Gould would turn in a 20.34 time to finish sixth , while Ali Enriquez finished seventh with a time of 21.09. Kiersten Aldous finished ninth with a 22.04, while Charlotte Wolden turned in a time of 27.08 to place tenth overall and Ema Enriquez finished 11th with a 28.41.

The JV?boys got a 21:47 from Dalton Hauschen to give him second place honors, while Will Jackson finished fourth with a 22.17 clocking. Michael Clasing turned in a time of 22.37 for fifth place and Caige Elbert finished sixth with a time of 23.19.

Emmetsburg’s Middle School runners performed well on Monday, as Courtney Wurzer would finish sixth with a 14,50 clocking and Zach Mason finished eighth in the boys division with a time of 13.29.

The E-Hawk Cross Country teams will travel to Humboldt on Monday to run in the Wildcat Invitational. Middle School will run at 4:15, with JV and Varsity runs to follow.
