Lady E-Hawk Volleyball Squad Opens Season Saturday At Humboldt Tourney

HUMBOLDT?- The volleyball season opened Saturday for Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks with an appearance at the Humboldt Invitational tournament. Emmetsburg would go 1-4 in pool play during the day, falling to Humboldt, South Central Calhoun, North Union and West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate before defeating Ogden.

Against Humboldt, the Lady E-Hawks lost by game scores of 5-21 and 12-21.

Taylor Knight tallied four serves with an ace along with two hits and a kill. Kendall Deitering also made four serves and two hits with a kill, while dishing out seven helpers. Tegan Olson made five hits with three kills, while Ashton Connelly added fivehits with two kills and a dig.

Alexa Naig made one serve and three hits with two kills, while Devyn White added two hits with a kill.

Shelbie Christensen made one serve and had three assists, while Michaela Rehm added two serves and two digs, while Staci Schmeling added two hits.

Against South Central Calhoun, Emmetsburg fell by game scores of 16-21 and 8-21. Alexa Naig made five serves and five hits with three kills, along with a dig and an assist. Ashton Connelly made six hits with a kill and a dig, while Tegan Olson also made six hits with a kill.

Taylor Knight added three serves with an ace and seven hits with three kills along with two digs. Michaela Rehm added four serves and six digs. Staci Schmeling added four serves, while Kendall Deitering made three serves and three hits with a kill, along with three assists. Shelbie Christensen added two serves and three assists and Devyn White added one hit.

Against North Union, the Lady E-Hawks fell by 12-21 and 17-21 scores.

Tegan Olson would make 16 hits with five kills and an assist, while Taylor Knight made eight serves and four hits with two kills and five digs. Kendall Deitering added four serves with two hits and a kill, along with three digs and five assists.

Alexa Naig made five serves with three aces and five hits with a kill along with a dig and two assists, Ashton Connelly came away with four serves and two aces, as well as five hits with four kills and an assist. Michaela Rehm made three serves and dug out seven shots, while Staci Schmeling added one serve. Devyn White made one hit and Shelbie Christensen handed out two assists.

In their match with West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate, the Lady E-Hawks were defeated by game scores of 17-21 and 11-21. Taylor Knight made nine serves with three aces and three hits with a kill as well as three digs. Kendall Deitering added five serves and one hit with five assists, while Michaela Rehm made four serves and four digs.

Alexa Naig connected on three serves with eight hits and a kill, as well as making two solo blocks and a pair of digs. Ashton Connelly made two serves and four hits with two kills, while Tegan Olson hammered eight of 10 hits with two kills. Devyn White added one hit and Staci Schmeling added three serves.

Emmetsburg would earn a match win over Ogden as the Lady E-Hawks collected the wins by game scores of 21-17 and 21-16.

Leading the way for the Lady E-Hawks was Taylor Knight with 11serves, two aces and five hits with three kills, as well as digging out three shots. Kendall Deitering added eight serves and two hits with a kill, along with two digs and six assists. Staci Schmeling made eight serves with two aces and Michaela Rehm added four serves with nine digs.

Alexa Naig made three serves and four hits with two kills, as well as assisting on two blocks and handing out five assists. Ashton Connelly added two serves and 10 hits with a kill and an assisted block.

Tegan Olson made eight hits with five kills and assisted on one block and Katie Ruiz made two hits with three digs.
