Hagen Still In Post Season Action

LEMARS – The Estherville Lincoln Central/Emmetsburg girls’ tennis team almost wrapped up play for the season at the Class 1A Individual Tournament in LeMars on Thursday. Rain delayed the final match for ELC/Emmetsburg’s top player, Bailey Hagen, who was playing for third-place and the state alternate spot.

Hagen, a senior from Emmetsburg, entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed.She opened the day against Spencers’ Katie Wilkerson and won 61-, 6-4. She then defeated Spirit Lake/Okoboji’s Anna Vos 6-1, 6-1.

In the semifinals, Hagen faced the top seed, Carolyn Ahlers of LeMars and lost 6-2, 6-2. Hagen was about to play in the third-place match against Storm Lake’s Lannie Brown, when a rainstorm descended on the courts in LeMars.

That match will be played today (Tuesday) in Spencer.
