E-Hawks Fall To Western Christian
HULL – The rematch between Emmetsburg and Western Christian on Tuesday night was a little closer than the first meeting of the season, but the E-Hawks would fall by a 69-41 margin. The loss drops Coach Mike Brennan’s squad to 3-14 overall on the season and 0-12 in the Lakes.
The first quarter started out in nearly a dead heat as both clubs were able to hit some early shots and they felt each other out, but it was Western Christian taking a 16-14 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, Emmetsburg would struggle to get its shots to drop. Western Christian would hit almost everything they put up, taking 40-25 lead at the half-time break.
Emmetsburg would struggle to get any offense going in the third quarter, but continued to battle defensively, as they added just five points to their tally, while Western Christian added 14 points for a 54-30 advantage to start the final quarter of play.
Emmetsburg would start hitting its shots in the final quarter, but it would be a matter of too little too late as the Wolfpack would go on to record the 69-41 win over Emmetsburg.
In their first meeting against Western Christian, Emmetsburg had been without the services of senior Jake Jackson due to an injury. Jackson was in game form on Tuesday night, as he paced the E-Hawks with 21 points in the effort.
Erik Drost would come away with 11 points, while Austin Krause chipped in six points and Greg Wesley came off the bench in the final minute of the game to tally three points.
Emmetsburg connected on 17 of 48 shots on the night for 35 percent shooting in the loss.
The season continues Friday as the E-Hawks travel to Spirit Lake for a rematch with the Indians and then travel to Cherokee next Tuesday night.
