Titans Playing Hard In Contests

The Titan boys of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire earned a split in a pair of games last week. On Thursday, the Titans were edged 83-80 by Pocahontas Area, but on Friday, the Titans downed Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne by a 79-28 tally.

Against Pocahontas Area, the game was back and forth for all four quarters, but a couple of late buckets would give the Indians the advantage in the 83-80 final tally.

For the Titans, Austin Dyer had a career night with 28 points, while Connor Sturgill added 21 points and eight rebounds. Lane Reiman scored 12 points, while Michael Girres added seven points. Marcus Girres and Mason McGrauth both scored five points and Trevor Hagedorn chipped in two points,

“This was a great high school basketball game,”?noted GT/RA?Head Coach Randy Hough. “Both teams played well. I thought our boys played very hard.”

The next evening, the Titans manhandled the Panthers of CWL in 79-28 margin.

Connor Stugill earned the double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Austin Dyer tallied 15 points, while Marcus Girres scored nine points.

Lane Reiman and Noah Stukey both scored seven points each, while Trevor Hagedorn tallied six points. Ryan Jacks, Mason McGrauth and Jared Sikora all scored two points each to round out the effort.

“We got off to a great start both offensively and defensively,” Coach Hough said. “It was a good game to get all the players playing in different combinations and to get everybody playing time.”

The Titan girls would fall to Pocahontas Area by a 66-41 score on Thursday night.

After trailing 9-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Titan girls came back to trail 36-25 at the intermission. At the end of the third frame, the Indians led 53-36 and went on to earn the 66-41 victory over GT/RA.

Lauren Flaharty would lead the Titans with 16 points, while Brooke Hoffman added nine tallies. Emily Moran scored seven points and Cassy Hampson , Katie Olesen, Grace Skattebo and Morgan McGrauth all added two points each. Alex Olesen rounded out the Titans scoring with a free throw.
