The resumption of play for the basketball season brought a welcome addition for the Lady E-Hawks of Emmetsburg. However, fresh blood couldn’t help Emmetsburg in a 57-20 loss to Spirit Lake.

Junior Tegan Olson returned to the Emmetsburg lineup for the first time this season after re-habbing from a knee injury in the first half of the season.

It was tough first half for the Lady E-Hawks, who trailed 9-2 after one quarter and 26-8 at the half. An inability to get shots off inside kept Emmetsburg hobbled, as they would trail 40-15 at the end of the third quarter and would eventually fall to the Indians by the 57-20 final score.

Emmetsburg would be led by Tegan Olson’s five points, with Alexa Naig and Kaity Mason both adding four points. Michaela Rehm tallied three points, while Ashton Connelly and Hadley Egland each scored two points.

Emmetsburg will host Cherokee Friday night in Lakes Conference basketball action.
