Former Coach To Hall Of Fame

Former Emmetsburg Wrestling Coach Bob Kenny will be one of three inductees into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall Of Fame. The induction will take place during the 2013 Iowa high School Wrestling Championships on Feb. 16, 2013.

Kenny, who now serves as Athletic Direcdtor at Mason City High School, forged an identity as an elite wrestling coach during his tenure as the head of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk wrestling program.

When Kenny retired in 2006, he had led the E-Hawks to six individual team championships and two dual team state championships as the leader of the E-Hawks.

In his career as a coach, he amassed a 289-123-1 mark, coming from stints in Maquoket Valley, Estherville Lincoln Central and Emmetsburg.

In Emmetsburg, Kenny’s record was 227-33-1, with 56 state medal winners, 12 champions and 12 second place finishers. Kenny won state titles in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003, and state six out of seven years.
