HOLSTEIN – No matter how you phrase it, Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks missed out on a chance to compete at the State Cross Country Championships. The Lady E-Hawks finished fourth, three scant points out of third place at Monday’s Class 1A Regional Cross County Meet at Holstein.

“The ladies finished fourth by only three points,”?notedeHead Coach Valerie Pickett. “It was a great effort and a wonderful season for them. Next year, everyone is back and we will continue to get stronger and faster.”

For the Lady E-Hawks, Taylor Reimer would lead the way, finishing 13th overall with a 17:27 clocking. Mikki Mundus would turn in a 17:40 clocking for 15th place and Caroline Fantz finished 18th in a time of 17:82.

Tara Harris finished 21st with a time of 18:11, while Emily Bonnstetter would turn in an 18:29 effort, good for the 32nd finishing position. Rachely Ruddy would finish in 19:06 for a 48th place finish and Maura Soukup battled a leg cramp through the course to finish in 53rd place with a time of 19:20 to wrap up the varsity season.
