Fall Fling Closes Out 2012 Karting Season

The 2012 season at Emmetsburg Raceway came to a close on Sept 23 with seven classes competing for the “Eagle”?trophies. A total of 38 drivers tried to tame the dry-slick surface, as perfect weather and a nice crowd turned out for the Fourth Annual Star Energy/Dunnigan’s Irish Pub Luck of the Irish Fall Fling at the track, located at the Palo Alto County Fairgrounds in Emmetsburg.

In the Putt-Putt class, the first feature saw Jaden Mason chase Lianna Duncan to the last lap where Jaden pulled off the pass for the victory. In feature two, Sam Schmidt picked up the win, leading flag to flag. For the third feature, Keagan Riley and Carter Frank battled with Frank taking the win, Riley placed second and Dylan Wickman finished third.

In the Rookie class, Point Champion Joseph Bonnstetter won with Zayn Feaster placing second and Cameron Scholten finishing third.

Weston Long earned his second Fall Fling title in the Junior One class, holding off Jonathan Hall. In Junior Two, Rebecca Bonnstetter took the checkers over Kolten Long.

Kirk Weber beat out his brother Dillon Weber in the Stock Medium class with Jason Braunschewig placing third.

The Clone Class went to Randy Braunschwieg, who was followed by Josh Braunschweig and Jason Braunschweig in third place.

The 390 Animal Class saw heat wins go to Austin Bonnstetter and Chuck Nattress. In the feature event, the duo would battle to the end with Bonnstetter taking his second Fall Fling feature with Nattress finishing second and Brandon Sohl finishing in third place.
