E-Hawks To Face H-M-S?Hawks

By Staff | Oct 4, 2012

It doesn’t seem possible that just three weeks remain in the regular season for high school football. But, such is the case for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks as they travel to Hartley this Friday night to take on a familiar foe, the Hawks of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

“They have a lot of size, a lot of speed and they return quite a number of seniors from last year,”?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Mike Dunlap. “They are always a good team and play very hard.”

In past meetings between the E-Hawks and Hawks, the two teams have been very evenly matched. This Friday’s game should be no different.

“They use the I formation and feature their tailback,”?noted Dunlap. “They like the belly play, and they also have a split end who leads the district with 18 catches.”

When the Hawks take the field defensively, there will be no surprises, according to Dunlap. “The use the 6-2 alignment, and they have great size and speed going for them.”

As you look at the game on paper, the Hawks suffered one of their two lossess this season to Western Christian, whom Emmetsburg defeated by a 40-7 score this past Friday night. But, Dunlap discounts any kinds of projections.

“Even though they are a r 4-2 team, they will be as physical of a team as we’ve played so far this season,”?Dunlap said. “They’ll be ready to play us, so we need to be ready to play them as well.”

To that end, Dunlap says the E-Hawks have some distinct goals for this upcoming contest.

“We have to take care of the little things Friday night,”?Dunlap said. “We have to have a great effort, great focus and great discipline on every play. We need to be a very focused football team and play with great focus.

Game time for Friday’s contest between the E-Hawks and Hawks is 7 p.m. at Hartley.
