Lady E-Hawks Fall In Own Invitational Tournament

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks finished fourth in their own invitational volleyball tournament on Saturday. Storm Lake would win the team title, followed by Bishop Garrigan and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire and the Lady E-Hawks.

For the Lady E-Hawks, the tournament started with a 2-1 match victory over GT/RA by scores of 21-14, 20-22 and 15-12. However, the Lady E-Hawks fell in two games to Storm Lake by identical scores of 13-21 and 13-21.

Against Bishop Garrigan, Emmetsburg fell by scores of 10-21 and 19-12 to move into the consolation game with GT/RA. The consolation match would go three games, with the Titans taking the first game 21-19 over the Lady E-Hawks. Emmetsburg would come back to win the second game by a 21-19 score, but in the decisive third game, GT/RA would take a 15-7 win over Emmetsburg.

For Emmetsburg, Alexa Naig was perfect at the serving line, making 30 of 30 serve attempts and adding 26 of 37 hits with eight kills on the day. Naig would dig out 14 shots and dished out 20 assists on the day.

Emily Noll would come away with 33 of 35 service completions and six ace serves, and connected on 14 of 21 hits for a pair of kills. Noll assisted on one block and dug out three shots for the Lady E-Hawks.

Ashton Connelly would connect on 31 of 31 serves with three aces and made 26 of 30 hits with seven kills at the net. Connelly would dig out six shots and made one assist on the day.

Whitney Kibbie came away with 22 of 23 serves and two aces, while making 39 of 55 hits with 12 kills at the net. Kibbie added 18 digs and dished out 15 assists to her teammates.

Miranda Vlasman would come away with 15 of 20 service completions and four aces, along with 40 of 49 hits and 12 kills on the day. Vlasman assisted on one block, dug out 11 shots and made one assist.

Jacque Carlson added 19 of 21 serves with one ace and made 10 of 17 hits with two kills. Carlson also had four digs and one assist.

Michaela Rehm would dig out 15 balls on the day and Kendall Deitering had seven digs.

The Lady E-Hawks will host Cherokee tonight (Tuesday) to open Lakes Conference play.
