Pre-Season Scrimmages Set For Friday Evening

The preview for the 2012 Fall Sports seasons will take place this Friday evening with the annual Scrimmages for the Emmetsburg athletic squads. As in past years, the admission to the scrimmages is a bottle of sports drink per person.

The evening will start at 4:30 p.m. with the annual E-Hawk Football Barbeque in the high school student center. Serving will continue through 6:30 p.m.

An Open House for the EHS?Weight Room will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. as well, with members of the E-Hawk Wellness and Equipment Committee on hand to answer questions in the weight room at the high school.

The Lady E-Hawk volleyball squads will scrimmage from 6 to 6:30 in the high school gym with introduction of players to follow.

At 6:30 p.m., the annual parents, athletes and coaches meeting will take place in the gym, and then individual team meetings will take place from 7 to 7:25 p.m.

At 7:40 p.m., the activity moves to Duane Twait Field where the Emmetsburg Cross Country squad members will be introduced to the public.

The football scrimmages will then kick off with the Freshman scrimmage at 7:45, with the Sophomore Scrimmage to follow at 8:05 p.m.

At 8:30, the Emmetsburg cheerleading squad will be introduced along with all high school football players and the E-Hawk varsity will close out the preview evening with the Black and White Scrimmage at 8:45 p.m.

Welcome The Titans

Graettinger-Terril/ Ruthven-Ayrshire will unveil its new shared athletic programs with photo day for the Volleyball team at 4 p.m. in Ruthven and photo day for the Titan Football Team at 5 p.m. at the Ruthven-Ayrshire Football field. A controlled scrimmage will follow the photo session to allow a first look at the shared football program, which is under the leadership of Head Coach Todd Hough.

Wolverines Opener

It’s a different story for the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine football team, however, as they will open their 2012 gridiron season on Friday night with a week zero game by hosting Northwood-Kensett at West Bend. This is the second season that Head Coach Pete Kapustynski and the Wolverines have opened their campaign with an early-season game.
