Lady E-Hawks Overrun Storm Lake

STORM LAKE – Emmetsburg ran away from Storm Lake on Wednesday night in a 25-3 decision in four innings.

The Lady E-Hawks improved to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in Lakes Conference play with the blowout win. Emmetsburg opened the game by taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The game would break wide-open in the top of the second when the Lady E-Hawks only got two hits, but used a string of errors and walks to push 11 runs over the plate for a 13-0 advantage.

Storm Lake would erase their goose egg in the bottom of the second with a run, making the score 13-1. in the top of the third, Emmetsburg would only collect one walk and went scoreless. Storm Lake added two runs to their tally to cut the Emmetsburg lead to 13-3.

But in the top of the fourth, the floodgates opened once again. Emmetsburg rapped out nine hits in their half of the inning and scored 12 runs to jump to an insurmountable 25-3 lead. Storm Lake would be retired in order to end the game.

Faith Schmidt pitched one inning and struck out one, while Ashton Connelly worked three innings, gave up three runs off three hits and struck out one.

Aly Berven had a double and two singles, and Jacque Carlson added a double. Miranda Vlasman, Teegan Olson, Whitney Kibbie and Ashton Connelly all had two hits, while Kaity Degen, Faith Schmidt, Michaela Rehm and Alexa Naig all added hits.
