BAD?Golf – Lucky 13th Edition This Friday
If you haven’t had a chance to dust off the clubs, loosen up your golf swing, then good for you! A golf outing designed strictly for fun and fellowship is closing in, and the only prerequisite is that you be a BAD golfer!
The Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce’s “Lucky”?13th Annual BAD Golf Outing is set for this Friday, June 1, at the Five Island Golf Club in Emmetsburg. Don’t let the name fool you, however – BAD Golf actually stands for Business Appreciation Day. The event is open to golfers of all skills and abilities – three person teams are paired according to skill level, so it is very important that golfers report an accurate handicap or recent golf score when registering for the event.
The BAD Golf tournament is a nine-hole, best-shot format with numerous prizes being awarded. Prizes include a longest drive award, shortest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin contest for all golfers playing in the event.
Holes in the tournament are sponsored by area businesses, and the business that offers the most sponsorship earns the honor of sponsoring the crucial first hole of the tournament. Past hole sponsors have given away colored golf balls or perhaps offered “enticements” or “distractions” to participants in the course of the event.
Registration for BAD Golf XIII will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 1, at the Five Island Golf Club, with the tournament starting off a shotgun start at 3 p.m. At the conclusion of the tournament, a ribeye steak sandwich meal will be offered in the clubhouse, where prizes will be awarded.
Participants in BAD Golf XIII have the choice of golfing and enjoying the meal; choosing to golf, or just choosing to attend the meal.
For more information on BAD Golf XIII, interested parties may contact the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce Office at (712)852-2283. Advance registration would be appreciated, but you may also register the day of the outing at the Five Island Golf Course Clubhouse.
The original BAD Golf outing began back in 1999 as a way of bringing business people and area residents together for an afternoon of fellowship and has grown into a very popular Summer activity of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce.
