E-Hawks’ Links Season Comes To A Close

ARNOLDS?PARK – The golf season ended last Friday for Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks at the Class 2A Sectional Tournament. The E-Hawks would come home with a fifth place finish to bring their campaign to a conclusion on the links of Emerald Hills Golf Club.

East Sac County would win the Sectional crown with a team score of 319, while Alta-Aurelia earned second place with a 332.

Finishing in third was Sibley-Ocheyedan with a 336, while Okoboji was fourth with a 341. Emmetsburg followed with a 355 stroke total, while Cherokee finished sixth with a 385. Sioux Central took seventh with a 387 and North Union rounded out the effort with a 401 stroke total.

For Emmetsburg, sophomore Michael Pugh would lead the effort on the day with his rounds of 44 and 43 to card an 87. Michael Myers was right behind with rounds of 41 and 47 for an 88 stroke total. Nick Schany would shoot identical rounds of 45 and 45 for a 90, while Jake Jackson carded a 41 and a 49 to tally an 80.

Other scoring for Emmetsburg came from Taylor Wegner with rounds of 46 and 48 for a 94 and Luke Jackson with his rounds of 55 and 49 for a 104 stroke total.

Medalist honors went to Zach Mason of East Sac with an 18-hole round of 71. Tyler Ohl of Okoboji would earn runner-up medal honors with a round of 79.

Also earning qualification for Individual Medalist play in the Class 2A District Tournament this Friday were Justin Kraft of East Sac and Jaden Holdon of Alta-Aurelia with rounds of 80; Ty Hannah and Joe Storbakken of Sibley-Ocheyedan and Alex Green of East Sac, all shooting rounds of 83.
