OKOBOJI – Emmetsburg’s golf teams finished at opposite ends of the scorecard in Monday’s Lakes Conference golf tournaments. For the Lady E-Hawks, a windy day at Okoboji Vu brought a third place finish in the conference race and one All Conference selection, while the E-Hawk golfers earned a sixth place finish on the links of Brooks National.

The Lady E-Hawks would be paced by the efforts of freshman Taylor Knight, as she recorded a 45 over her first nine holes, and then added a round of 47 over the back nine to tally an 18-hole total of 92, which would end up as the low score of the meet.

For the feat, Knight was named meet medalist and earned All Conference honors for the Lady E-Hawks.

The remainder of the Lady E-Hawk scoring found Ashley Pelzer with rounds of 53 and 50 for a 103, while Hannah VanOosbree would shoot a 50 and 55 for a 105. Paige Naig carded a 58 and a 52 for a 110 while Aleysha Schutz shot a 59 and 51 for a 110 and Katie Ruiz added a 62 and 57 for a 119.

Emmetsburg would shoot a team total 410 to finish behind Spirit Lake with a 391 and Spencer with a 404. LeMars was fourth with a 422, and was followed by Estherville Lincoln Central with a 436, Storm Lake witha 440 and Western Christian with a 450.

“We played the best 18 holes of the season on Monday,”?noted Lady E-Hawk Golf Coach Ted Riley. “It’s great to have a freshman step up and be medalist and earn All Conference. We’re moving in the right direction.”

For Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks, a team total 344 was 23 strokes behind eventual winners Storm Lake with their 321 score. Spencer was second with a 322, while Spirit Lake shot a 324. Estherville Lincoln Central was fourth with a 327 and was followed by Cherokee’s 335. After the E-Hawks’ 344 was Western Christian with a 346 and LeMars with a 348.

The links at Brooks National were not kind to Emmetsburg, as none of the E-Hawks made the All Conference squad.

Leading Emmetsburg’s effort was Michael Myers, who shot rounds of 42 and 40 for an 82 stroke total. Jake Jackson would follow with rounds of 40 and 46 for an 86, while Nick Schany carded a 45 and a 42 for an 87 stroke total. Luke Jackson would add rounds of 45 and 44 to tally an 89, while Michael Pugh shot a 43 and a 50 for a 93 and Taylor Wegner added a 47 and a 52 for a 99 to tally the 344 for the E-Hawks.
