Lady Wolverines Second At Mike Jepson Relays

MANSON The Lady Wolverine track and field athletes came away with a second place finish at Tuesday’s Mike Jepson Relays in Manson, finishing just three points behind East Sac County. Once again, strong finishes in relay events and three individual championships helped the Lady Wolverines earn the solid finish.

Drake Relays Qualifier Jessica Abrahamson would win both the shot put and discus competition, as she threw the shot 40’10.25″ and the discus 101’2.5″. Madelynn Gehrt would capture the 400 meter dash with a time of :63.81 for the purple and gold.

The 4×800 relay, comprised of Sarah Berte, Alicia Mogler, Ashley Schmidt and Portlind Schmidt, took first place honors with an 11:09.65 effort, while the Distance Medley Relay, with Kayla Banwart, Wendy Grimm, Ashley Schmidt and Portlind Schmidt, also placed first with their time of 4:39.47.

The 4×400 relay, with the lineup of Erin Larson, Ashley Schmidt, Madelyn Gehrt and Kenzie Grimm took first place honors with a 4:25.73 clocking and the 4×100 relay, with the foursome of Harrison Schmidt, Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke and Kenzie Grimm earned first place with a :52.15 timing.

The Lady Wolverines’ 4×200 relay, with Harrison Schmidt, Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke and Kenzie Grimm took second place with a 1:51.60 and the Sprint Medley, with Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke, Kenzie Grimm and Madelyn Gehrt took second with their time of 1:59.20.

Kaley Lempke would earn a second place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of :13.64, while Kayla Banwart finished third in the long jump off her leap of 14’2.75″. Lauren Thatcher finished third in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:50.62, while Ashley Schmidt was third in the 800 with a 2:36.36 clocking.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with Kayla Banwart, Heather Fehr, Rachel Wirtz and Wendy Grimm took third place with a time of 1:16.00 and Meredith Collins finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :13.88.

Fifth place finishes were earned by Wendy Grimm in the discus and long jump, as she threw the discus 76’4.25″ and jumped 13’7″. Rachel Wirtz added fifth place finishes in the 100 and 400 meter hurdle events, as she finished the 100 hurdles in :17.91 and the 400 hurdles in :19.29.
