Sween Named Honorary Referee For Clint Stille E-Hawk Relays
The Emmetsburg Community School District is proud to recognize the Honorary Referee for the 2012 Clint Stille E’Hawk Relays, Mr. Greg Sween.
Greg was a 27 year employee of the Emmetsburg School District. He has always had a passion for sports and has always been very involved in the Emmetsburg Athletic Programs. Greg enjoyed coaching football and track for the Ehawks. He continues today, referring basketball games, starting track meets, and volunteering his time to various sporting events. One of his greatest joys is helping at the Little E’Hawk Track Meet each May.
Greg attended Wartburg College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a four year letter winner in football and baseball for the Wartburg Knights. He was hired into the Emmetsburg School District in 1979 as the Middle School Physical Education teacher and had the honor of working with Duane Twait as the Varsity Assistant Football Coach for six years, Varsity Assistant Boys Track Coach for three years and Head Varsity Boys Track Coach for three years. During that time, he earned his Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Guidance from Mankato State University. Greg left Emmetsburg for a few short years, only to move back and become the K-8 Guidance counselor until his retirement in 2009.
Since then, he continues to substitute teach and work in the construction field. Greg loves hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family. Greg and his wife Anne, have three children: Zach, his wife Lindsey, and 2 granddaughters live in Duluth, MN; Kelsey, a current graduate student in Chicago, IL; and McKenzie, a senior at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY.
