E-Hawks Have Stong Showing At Pocahontas Relays

POCAHONTAS – Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks had a strong showing Friday at the Pocahontas Relays. The E-Hawks claimed several first place finishes during the event as the season progresses and times and performances continue to improve.

Emmetsburg got a first place finish in the 4×100 relay, as the foursome of Brady Berkland, Brady Christensen, Andrew Wellik and Allen Jensen finished with a :45.35 time. Andrew Wellik picked up a first place finish in the 200 meter dash as he crossed the finish line in :23.40.

Also earning a first place finish for the E-Hawks was Andrew Garrelts in the shot put, as he came up with a throw of 47’2.5″, before finishing second in the discus with a throw of 123’11”.

In the 100 meter dash, Brady Berkland earned a second place finish with his :11.47 effort and Brady Christensen was right behind him in third place with a time of :11.54. Brady Berkland would finish fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of :23.65.

The E-Hawk Shuttle Hurdle Relay earned a runner-up finish as Chad Loomis, Allen Jensen, Clayton Henderson and Cody Henderson were clocked in at 1:02.56 for their second place finish.

Emmetsburg’s 4×200 relay, comprised of Brady Berkland, Aaron Bird, Brady Christensen and Andrew Wellik, also placed second with their 1:36.08 clocking.

Chad Loomis placed fourth in the 400 hurdles with a :58.79 clocking and Clayton Henderson would finish seventh in 1:01.53.

Allen Jensen would finish fifth in the 110 meter hurdle event with a time of :16,30, while teammate Clayton Henderson placed sixth with a time of :16.55.

Arik Kerr finished fourth in the shot put, coming away with a heave of 39’10”, while Allen Jensen placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17’4″ and Clayton Henderson finished eighth by leaping 16’4.5″.

The E-Hawk Distance Medley Relay, with Aaron Bird, Jacob Kibbie, Brandon Elbert and Wes Brennan placed fifth with a time of 4:16.54, while the 4×800 relay, made up of Zach Anderson, Joel Hoyman, Greg Wesley and Wes Brennan finished with a 10:30.94 clocking for sixth place.

Rounding out the E-Hawk finishes aw the 4×400 relay squad of Chad Loomis, Greg Wesley, Brady Christensen and Andrew Wellik, as the foursome turned in a 4:09.04 clocking to place sixth.

The E-Hawks return home to Duane Twait Field today (Tuesday) to host the Clint Stille E-Hawk Relays. Action gets underway at 5 p.m.

Then on Thursday, the E-E-Hawks will compete in the Storm Lake Relays at Storm Lake.
