Wolverines Improving Times
WEST BEND A toughouting for West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate resulted in a fourth place finish for the Wolverines last week. Coach Jerry Vanderhorst’s thinclads finished fourth at Prairie Valley on Tuesday, April 10.
In action at Prairie Valley, the Wolverines earned first place finishes from Mitch Bonnstetter in the 100 meter dash with an :11.41 time and the 200 meter dash with a :23.6 clocking, along with the Medley Relay, as Jordan Buhs, Davey Jergens, Bonnstetter and Aaron Montag took first place with a time of 3:56.
Jesse Zinnel earned third in the 3200 meter run with an 11.18, while the 4×800 relay, with Nathan Grimm, Jason Zinnel, Jack Fehr and Montag finished with a 9:14.
The 4×200 relay, with Buhs, Collin Thatcher, Grimm and Jergens finished with a 1:43 clocking and the 4×400 relay, comprised of Grimm, Dustin Johnson, Montag and Thatcher, finished with a 3:58 time for third place.
The Shuttle hurdle relay, Thatcher, Johnson, Jergens and Sean Riesenberg, took fourth in the 1:12 and the 4×100 relay, with Thatcher, Jergens, Buhs and Bonnstetter, took fourth with a :48.8 clocking.
Jesse Zinnel would round out the finishes with a fifth place finish in the 1600 meter run from his 5:11 clocking, and a sixth place in the 800 meter run by finishing with a time of 2:19.
“The weather conditions were really poor, but I was pleased with our performances,” Vanderhorst noted. “Overall, everyone did a nice job in very tough conditions.”
