E-Hawk Thinclads Tie With Sioux Central

SPIRIT LAKE Tuesday’s outing at Spirit Lake for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks resulted in a tie for the fourth place in the team scoring with Sioux Central. Both the E-Hawks and Rebels scored 74 points to trail the host Spirit Lake Park Indians, Okoboji and South Brien. Clay Central-Everly, Estherville Lincoln Central and North Union would round out the field of competitors.

Emmetsburg would earn a pair of wins, staring with the 4×100 relay, as the quartet of Brady Berkland, Cody Henderson, Andrew Wellik and Allen Jensen finished with a :46.64 clocking. The 800 relay, with Brady Berkland, Aaron Bird, Brady Christensen and Andrew Wellik, took first place with their time of 1:37.8.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay, comprised of Clayton Henderson, Cody Henderson, Allen Jensen and Chad Loomis, finished with a 1:03.05, which was good for second place. Andrew Wellik would earn second place in the 200 meter dash as he finished with a :23.59 time. Cody Henderson took third place in the 110 hurdles with a time of :15.86 and Andrew Garrelts earned third place in the shot put with a heave of 44’11.75″.

Brady Berkland collected a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash with his time of: 24.29, while Allen Jensen placed fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of: 16.54. Emmetsburg’s Distance Medley relay, composed of Aaron Bird, Brady Christensen, Shay Mortenson and Austin Lietz, also placed fifth with a time of 4:13.97, while the 4×400 relay, consisting of Chad Loomis, Shay Mortenson, Brady Berkland and Andrew Wellik, placed sixth with a time of 3>58.88.

Jacob Hutchinson placed sixth in the preliminary round of the discus with a 110’9″ throw, and then placed seventh overall in the finals by throwing 110’9″. Brady Christensen earned sixth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.08, and Clayton Henderson earned seventh place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of :62.88, while Chad Loomis turned in a :63.52 in the 400 hurdles.

Arik Kerr would finish eighth in the shot put, throwing 40’6″, while Clayton Henderson took eighth in the long jump finals by leaping 17’8.5″, while Cody Henderson finished ninth in the long jump by leaping 18’8″.

Aaron Bird finished tenth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.59, while Austin Lietz finished 11th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:26.67. Andrew Garrelts would place 12th in the discus, throwing 93’7″ and Wesley Brennan would finish 15th in the 800 meter run to wrap up the Emmetsburg efforts.

Unfavorable weather prompted the postponement of the 91st Estherville Relays on Friday, so the next action for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks will be this afternoon (Tuesday) in a return trip to Spirit Lake, which will be followed on Wednesday by a trip to Pocahontas Area.
