Thinclads Take To The Track At Spencer

SPENCER – The first outdoor meet of the season was a good measuring stick for the Lady E-Hawk and E-Hawk harriers. Both squads competed Thursday at the Spencer Earlybird meet along with Estherville Lincoln Central and Spencer.

Coach Dan Dooley’s Lady E-Hawks would be paced by Britni Will’s discus throw of 85’8” to win the competition. Ashton Connelly would earn second place in the Long Jump with a leap of 14’6.25″.

The Lady E-Hawks’ 4×200 relay would finish in second place with a time of 1:58.82 and the 4×400 relay would also claim second place honors with a time of 4:36.19.

Taylor Reimer would finish in third place in the 800 meter run with a 2:46.53 clocking, while the Shuttle Hurdle Relay placed third in 1:18.65. The Girls’ Sprint Medley relay took third with a 2:04.15 clocking and the 4×100 relay placed third with a :56.89 effort.

Earning fourth place honors for Emmetsburg was Emily Noll, as she came away with a throw of 28’4.5″ in the shot put, while Rachel Ruddy placed fourth in the long jump by leaping 13’9.5″. Maura Soukup finished the 800 meter run in 2:48.14 to place fourth, while Taylor Knight finished the 200 meter dash in :30.19 for a fourth place effort and Tara Harris placed fourth in the 1600 meter run in a time of 6:26.53.

Jacque Carlson would place fifth in the discus as she threw the platter 81’11”, while Mikki Mundus ran a :14.46 to place fifth in the 100 meter dash and Alyson Berven finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of :18.85.

Rounding out the finishes for the Lady E-Hawks was Rachel Ruddy in the 100 meter dash with a time of :14.56.

Coach Tyler Beving’s E-Hawks picked up four first-place finishes at the Earlybird meet, starting with Andrew Garrelts in the discus with a throw of 120’7″. Cody Henderson would win the 110 hurdles with a time of :15.15, while in the 200 meter dash, Andrew Wellik crossed the finish line first with a :23.64 effort. Emmetsburg’s final first place finish came from Chad Loomis in the 400 meter hurdles with his time of 1:00.22.

Erik Kerr would earn a second place finish in the shot put with a heave of 41’6″ and Allen Jensen was the runner up in the 110 high hurdles with a time of :16.07.

The E-Hawks’ varsity 4×200 relay took second place with a time of 1:36.85 and the varsity 4×100 relay also earned second place with a time of :45.23 and the 4×400 relay squad finished second in a time of 3:52.63.

Andrew Garrelts placed third in the shot put with a 41’3″ throw and Clayton Henderson finished in third place with his long jump of 18’8.25″.

Brady Berkland turned in a time of :23.81 to finish third in the 200 meter dash, while Austin Lietz finished third in the 1600 meter run with a 5:26.07 effort. Chad Loomis was third in the 400 meter dash with a :57.15 clocking and Clayton Henderson took third in the 400 hurdles with a 1:01.00 effort, while the 1600 meter medley relay finished with a 4:16.23 time to complete the third place finishes.

Jake Hutchinson earned fourth place in the discus with a throw of 109’4″ and Cody Henderson placed fourth in the long jump by leaping 17’6.75″. Brady Christensen was fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :11.86 and Wesley Brennan placed fourth in the 1600 meter run with a 5:52.28 effort.

The E-Hawks’ junior varsity shuttle hurdle relay was fourth with its’ 1:11.33 clocking, while the JV 4×200 relay also took fourth place with a time of 1:45.27 and the JV 4×100 relay turned in a :49.57 effort to take fourth place as well.

Rounding out Emmetsburg’s finishes at the Earlybird meet were Jake Hutchinson in the shot put with a 39’9 throw for sixth place, along with Aaron Bird in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.80 for sixth place and Wesley Brennan in the 800 meter run with a 2:37.29 clocking to finish sixth.

The E-Hawks will return to the track on Thursday when they compete at the Humboldt Relays in Humboldt, while the Lady E-Hawks will run tonight (Tuesday) at the Tomahawk Relays in Cherokee.
