Northwest Iowa Bench Press Classic Approaching
The Smith Wellness Center in Emmetsburg will once again host the 10th Annual Northwest Iowa Bench Press Classic. This year’s event is set for Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m.
The event is a non-sanctioned event and is designed for the serious lifter who wants to see what they have accomplished in a year of hard work, but in a competitive setting.
As in the past years of the Northwest Bench Press Classic, there will be competition in various age divisions, with competitors from the local area as well as across the state, with each competitor focused on lifting the barbells when they take their turn on the bench. Weight classes include 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275 and heavyweight classes for men and 105, 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 198 and over classes for women.
Competition divisions include Teen I for lifters from 12-15; Teen II for lifters 16-19; Novice I for 20-24 year olds; Novice II for lifters 25-29 and Submasters, lifters from 30-39. Master I lifters are from 40-44, while Master II lifters are 50-59 and Master III lifters are 60 and over. An Open Class will round out the competition.
The competition features trophies for the top three finishers in each class, along with an official event t-shirt.
