Lady E-Hawks Come Up Short

SPIRIT?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks gave their all and then some but came up four points short in a 36-32 loss to Spirit Lake Friday night. The loss drops Emmetsburg to 4-8 in Lakes Conference action with two league games to go in the season.

The Lady E-Hawks would trail 4-12 after the first quarter, but came hustling back to tie the game at 18-18. It was an even contest through the third quarter, as the Emmetsburg defense took away the Indians’ outside shooting, but Spirit Lake would lead 25-23 to start the final frame.

Emmetsburg would come up a little short in the final frame to fall by the four point margin, 36-32.

Paige Naig would lead Emmetsburg with 11 points, while Kaity Degen followed with nine points. Ashton Connelly chipped in eight points, while Alexa Naig and Faith Schmidt both added two points.

After games with Cherokee and LeMars this week, the Lady E-Hawks open the post season Saturday night at 7 p.m. when they host NSK/AR in Emmetsburg.
