The last time Emmetsburg and Estherville Lincoln Central met on the court, the Lady E-Hawks scored a total of 16 points in the loss. Tuesday night, Emmetsburg didn’t win on the scoreboard, but earned a moral victory in a 42-33 loss to the Midgets.

The Lady E-Hawks played with the Midgets in all four quarters of Tuesday’s game at Estherville, trailing 10-7 at the end of the first frame, and remained in striking distance with a 16-21 tally at the intermission.

The third quarter would not go as smoothly for the Lady E-Hawks, as they could only add five points to their tally in the face of the Midgets’ defense and trailed 36-21 to start the final quarter.

But, Emmetsburg would fight their way back, outscoring Estherville Lincoln Central 12-6 in the final eight minutes of the contest, but ran out of time in the 42-33 loss.

Emmetsburg was led by the 10-point effort of Paige Naig, while Kaity Degen added seven points. Alexa Naig and Ashton Connelly both scored six points, while Faith Schmidt scored four points.

The Lady E-Hawks move to 8-6 overall and 3-5 in the Lakes as they look to host LeMars in Lakes Conference action this Friday night in Emmetsburg.
