Raider Boys Come Up Short
RUTHVEN – Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril put up a furious rally to fight back from an 11-point halftime deficit Tuesday night but fell to Trinity Christian in a 56-49 loss.
The Raiders trailed 15-11 at the end of the first quarter as they struggled with the pressure defense of Trinity Christian. The Raiders would fight to stay close in the second quarter, but trailed by nine points, 35-24 at the intermission.
A quick start to the second half by the raiders would cut Trinity Christians’ lead and tie the game with 3:33 to go in the quarter. Trinity would fight back and retake at 44-42 lead at the end fo the quarter.
The Raiders kept chiping away at Trinity through the final quarter and once again tied the game with 4:57 to go a 47-47, but a seven point run by Trinity would steal the momentum away from the Raiders down the stretch.
But, with 1:28 to play, a technical foul on Trinity would send Austin Dyer to the line, where he got two free throws, but missed the next pair for a 49-54 score.
Trinity would add a final bucket to secure the win at 56-49.
Austin Dyer would lead the Raiders with 14 points while Colin Leiting added 13 points. Carter Williamson scored eight points, with Mitch Girres scroring seven points and Nick Chapman adding five.points and Connor Stargill scored two points.
The Raiders fall to 1-6 on the year as they break for the holidays.
