Lady E-Hawks Participate In Hall Of Pride Challenge Scrimmage
ALGONA – Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks joined the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears Thursday night in playing for Pride – the Iowa Hall of Pride’s new community service initiative, the “Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge.”
As part of the Pride Challenge, Bishop Garrigan identified Toys for Tots as a community service project that was meaningful for their school and community. The Toys for Tots program provides toys for needy children during the holiday season.
The Pride Challenge is highlighted by “Pride Scrimmages,” where participating schools are permitted to use one of their three allotted basketball scrimmages to play a live game under all normal game conditions, although the game does not count on a team’s record.
For Thursday’s game, members of the Lady E-Hawk squad each brought a toy or game item to be donated to the Toys for Tots program.
The Iowa Hall of Pride opened to the public on February 23, 2005. The interactive museum imparts a sense of place to all who visit and preserves our rich Iowa heritage. The museum features dozens of exhibits that engage the visitor in experiencing the stories of Iowa’s communities and their heroes. There is a strong emphasis on education and how it has helped shape the people of Iowa. A visit to the Iowa Hall of Pride is a unique, one-of-a-kind experience that shouldn’t be missed.
