TERRIL?- The basketball season began Monday evening with the annual Graettinger-Terril Girls Jamboree in Terril. Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks met the Raiders of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in a two quarter scrimmage in the teams’ first competitive outings of the season, and the Lady E-Hawks would take a 14-7 win over the Raider gals in the scrimmage.

The two teams tried several player combinations through the two quarters of action, giving Head Coaches John Kennedy and Corey Boe a chance to see how players interacted under actual game situations, and an opportunity to see how various schemes and plays worked.

In the final tally, Emmetsburg would be paced by senior Paige Naig’s 10 point effort, while Jacque Carlson added four points to the tally.

For Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, senior Alesha Sikora would score three points to lead the Raiders, while Paige Hoffman came up with a bucket for two points and Amanda Aielts added two points as well.

The Raiders will open the regular season next Monday night, Nov. 21 with a junior varsity-varsity contest against Laurens-Marathon in Laurens, and then turn around to host Spalding Catholic of Granville on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in a JV-varsity doubleheader in Ruthven.

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks will play in a Pride Challenge Game Thursday night (tonight, Nov. 17) at Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona. The Junior Varsity will tip off at 5:45 p.m., and will be followed by the varsity. The regular season opener for Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks will be Tuesday, Nov. 29.
