New Personal Records Set At League Meet
SPIRIT?LAKE – Tuesday’s Lakes Conference Cross Country meet gave Emmetsburg Coach Valerie Pickett a lot of optimism for next Thursday’s District Meet at Galva.
“Tuesday was an awesome night for the E-Hawks,”?Pickett said. “There were huge personal records on the boys side.”
The E-Hawk boys would finish seventh overall in the team standings and were led by senior Zach Overberg, who placed 19th overall with a time of 17:33.
Chad Loomis finished 23rd with a 17::48, a new personal best effort, while Austin Lietz also set a personal record with a time of 18:33, good for 33rd place.
Max Jones would come home in 36th place, finishing in 18:38, a new personal best effort. Marcel Pohlmann earned a 39th place finish with his time of 18:45, his personal best effort of the season, and Dan Pelzer set a personal best with his 41st place finish time of 19:09.
For the Lady E-Hawks, a sixth place team finish was paced by freshman Olivia Smith and her 16:51 clocking for 21st place. Caroline Fantz would finish 28th with a time of 17:30, a personal best effort.
Taylor Reimer too 34th place with a personal best effort of 17:59 and Rachel Ruddy added an 18:56 time for a 41st place finish and personal best effort.
Kristi Wurzer earned 42nd place overall with a time of 18:59 and Madison Reimer finished 51st with her 21.38 clocking.
“Running these great times puts us in a great spot to compete at Districts next week,”?Pickett said. “We were focused mainly on getting our times down and the kids did exactly that. We’re looking forward to an exciting meet Oct. 20.”
Mike Pugh ran a personal best 21.55 and Brian James rand a 23:51 personal best in the JV?boys competition.
