E-Hawks To Host Indians Friday Night

By Staff | Sep 15, 2011

With the district schedule now fully underway, every game for the Emmetsburg E-Hawks is the most important game they will play.

On this Friday night, the Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer Indians will make the trip up Highway Four to Duane Twait Field in Emmetsburg for the second district game of the season.

While it might appear the Indians are struggling, with three losses on the season, they have also faced three quality teams, losing their district opener last Friday to South O’Brien.

“Pocahontas Area is a way better team than their record indicates,” agrees E-Hawk Head Coach Mike Dunlap. “They’ve lost three close games to good teams.”

When the Indians come to Emmetsburg on Friday, they will being an I formation on offense, which will use the belly and belly keep as a base, along with a “Y-doubles”?formation for the E-Hawks to deal with. On defense, the Indians will work out of the 4/4 and 6/2 schemes.

“They are very physical on defense and have great size,”?Dunlap noted. “Their quarterback is a decent athlete with great speed.”

For Emmetsburg, the key will be in the start on Friday.

“We have to get off to a great start and have great mental focus and great efforts,”?Dunlap said. “We need to be focused in and completely disciplined on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
