Harriers Run Strong At ELC?Invite

ESTHERVILLE?- With another near perfect night to run, the Emmetsburg girls and boys cross country teams continued to improve times and set new personal bests at the Estherville Lincoln Central Invitational. The ELC?Invite was run Tuesday evening at the Estherville Golf Course.

The Lady E-Hawks got solid performances from the squad on Tuesday night at Estherville, as the Lady E-Hawks would finish ninth out of the 10-team field of competitors.

Once again, Emmetsburg’s dynamic duo of freshmen Olivia Smith and Caroline Fantz paced the Lady E-Hawks, as Smith would earn an 18:29 clocking to finish in 34th place, while Fantz was a footstep behind with an 18:30 effort to finish 35th.

Taylor Reimer would finish 41st with her time of 18:58, while team captain Kristi Wurzer set a new Personal Best time with her 19:09 clocking, which translated into 44th place.

Rachel Ruddy also set a new Personal Best mark, as she finished 47th with a time of 19:40.

Hadley Egland finished in a time of 19:45 to claim 49th place and Madison Reimer would finish in 58th place with a time of 22:46.

The E-Hawk boys earned a sixth place finish, outdistancing all other Class 1A teams competing in the event

Leading the way was senior Zach Overburg, who would finish 11th overall with a time of 18:48 for the event. Chad Loomis turned in a time of 19:52, which was good for 27th place. Exchange student Marcel Pohlmann would finish 37th with his time of 21:06, while Austin Lietz finished with a time of 21:09, good for 38th place.

Max Jones earned 40th place with his 21:11 clocking, while Dan Pelzer took 42nd place with a time of 21:17 and Michael Pugh was 50th with a time of 23:19.

Brett Steinkamp turned in a 23:10 effort to finish 31st in the boys JV?competition.

“I am very happy with our effort Tuesday,”?noted Head Coach Valerie Pickett. “We are hanging in there with the bigger schools which will help us come districts time.”
