Lady E-Hawks Play At Sheldon Tourney

SHELDON – Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks put in a long day on Saturday playing in the Sheldon Tournament, and earned a 1-5 overall mark on the day.

Against Sibley-Ocheyedan, Emmetsburg fell by game scores of 6-12 and 13-21.

In the Sibley-Ocheyedan match, Paige Naig made three serves with six hits with one kill and three digs. Miranda Vlasman made three hits and Emily Noll had one serve, two hits and one dig.

Rachel Schroeder made two serves and two hits with one kill and three digs. Jacque Carlson made one hit for a kill, while Whitney Kibbie made three serves and had one hit for a kill while digging out one shot and making two assists.

Shelby Brindley made three serves and had two assists while Britni Will made one serve. Jayme Penrod came away with six serves and one dig.

Against Central Lyon, game scores were 22-24 and 13-21.

Naig made five serves and six hits with a kill. Vlasman added four hits with one kill and one dig.

Emily Noll had one hit and a dig while Schroeder added two serves, three hits and one kill to the effort.

Carlson made one hit and a kill and added a dig.

Kibbie made three serves with four hits and one kill, as well as digging out four shots and making two assists. Brindley added seven serves as well as a dig and three assists.

Britni Will had four serves and two digs while Penrod added seven serves with an ace and five digs.

In their match wil LeMars Gehlen, Emmetsburg lost by scores of 7-21 and 6-21.

Naig was two of two serving and four of six hitting with one kill, while Vlasman was four of seven hitting with one dig.

Rachel Schroeder made two serves and added a hit with five digs, while Carlson made nine hits with one kill. Kibbie made two serves and added two hits with two kills, two digs and five assists.

Shelby Brindley added four serves with four digs and two assists. Ashley Morris had two hits while Britni Will added two serves with one dig. Penrod rounded out the match with one serve and seven digs.

Game scores against Sheldon were 4-21 and 12-21.

Naig had three serves, six hits with two kills and one dig, while Vlasman added six hits with one kill and three digs.

Rachel Schroeder made four serves with an ace and added two hits and five digs. Carlson made five hits with two kills and Kibbie had two serves, three hits and two kills along with two digs and four assists.

Britni Will added three serves, while Brindley had two serves, one dig and three assists. Tegan Olson added one hit to the effort and Penrod added one serve and two digs to the effort.

Hinton game scores were 10-21 and 11-21.

Paige Naig made seven serves and six hits with three kills and a dig. Vlasman added five hits and a kill and a dig. Schroeder came up with four of five serves, a hit, two digs and two assists and Carlson made six hits with two kills.

Whitney Kibbie made three serves, two hits with a kill, two digs and two assists. Brindley added a serve and two assists. Will made three serves with two digs and Olson added one hit while Penrod had three serves and four digs.

In their match with Newell-Fonda, Emmetsburg won by game scores of 21-12 and 21-14.

Naig had five serves with two aces, 12 hits and four kills and a dig and one assist. Vlasman added seven hits and four kills with two digs, while Schroeder had 11 serves with three aces, one hit and three digs.

Jacque Carlson added five hits and three kills, while Kibbie made seven serves with an ace, two hits with a kill, a solo block, a dig and five assists. Brindley had four serves with one ace, four digs and three assists. Britni Will had three serves with an ace and one dig while Olson added three assists and Penrod made seven serves with two aces and five digs.

“We had problems passing the ball and getting to run our offense,” noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Andrea Accola-Sabin. “Jayme did a great job in the back row, she was all over the floor saving balls. She does a great job reading the hitters and getting to the ball.”
