Raiders’ Pre-season Scrimmages Friday Night
It may seem too early, but the Fall Sports seasons will get underway a week earlier than normal for the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire. The Raider football team, under the guidance of Head Coach Larry Swingen, will start their season next Friday night, August 19, with a home game against the Wolves of Harris-Lake Park.
The “Week Zero” game was necessitated when Twin River Valley closed, leaving a vacancy in the schedules of other teams in Eight-Man District Two.
“We were scheduled to play HLP the last week of the season, and since they were looking for a game to replace TRV as well, we decided to play in week zero,”?explained RA?Athletic Director Jon Josephson.
To provide fans a preview of the Raiders, a sports drink scrimmage will be held this Friday, Aug. 12, for both the volleyball and football teams, starting at 5 p.m. in the high school gym with the volleyball team. Admission will be a bottle of sports drink per person.
