The name doesn’t do justice to the event – BAD?- or Business Appreciation Day is the annual golf outing of the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce designed to allow the community to get to know each other through a relaxing game of golf.

With a near-perfect day to play golf on Friday, a total of 15 teams turned out to get to know one another, learn about other businesses and make some new acquaintences during the nine-hole best shot tournament, played at the Five Island Golf Course.

When the golf ended, the title for 2011 went to the Laurens State Bank team, comprised of Marc Riley, Terry Latham and Ted Riley, who blistered the course with their course with a round of 25.

Second place honors were claimed by the joint team of Ken’s Auto and Golf and Cheveaux Salon and Spa. Team members included Joni Cody, Marsha Duhn and Ken Smith, who shot a 27.

Finishing in third place was the City of Emmetsburg team, comprised of John Bird, Steve Heldt and Steve Finer, who shot a 29.

The event was capped off with a ribeye steak sandwich meal for the participants and awards ceremony.
