Lady Wolverines Earn Second At Lady E-Hawk Relays

West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley’s Lady Wolverines battled their way to a second place finish at Thursday’s Lady E-Hawk Relays in Emmetsburg, finishing with 118 points behind West Hancock, who won with 188 points. The Lady Wolverines edged out North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong -Ringsted by one point for second place..

The Lady Wolverines would bring home five first-place finishes on Thursday, starting with double winner Jessica Abrahamson, who captured first place in the shot put with a throw of 35’3,5″ and then taking first in the discus with a throw of 102’8″.

Kenzie Grimm would earn first place honors in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a time of :28.19. Erin Larson would claim the title in the 800 meter run, as she finished with a 2:46.13 clocking for the top place.

Rounding out West Bend-Mallard/TRV’s first place efforts was the Distance Medley Relay, as the quartet of Harrison Schmidt, Lauren Thatcher, Ashley Schmidt and Portlind Schmidt finished with a time of 4:49.26.

A pair of relays earned second place finishes on Thursday along with Portlind Schmidt, who took second place in the 1500 meter run with her time of 5:35.16.

The 4×100 relay, with Shayla simms, Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke and Kenzie Grimm, finished second with a time of :52.29 and the 4×200 relay, with Simms, Collins, Lempke and Grimm, would duplicate the effort with a time of 1:51.23.

Kaley Lempke would finish third in the 100 meter dash with a time o f:13.56. Haley Hiscocks earned third place in the shot put, throwing 33’10.5″ and the 4×400 relay, with Lauren Schmidt, Ashley Schmidt, Harrison Schmidt and Kenzie Grimm, placed third with their time of 4:37.62.

The Lady Wolverines’ 4×800 relay, with Jacquelyn Origer, Cassie Jo Schneider, Sarah Berte and Holly Mathews, took fourth place with a time of 12:14.93 and the shuttle hurdle relay, with Melanie Vote, Haley Banwart, Wendy Grimm and Kayla Banwart, also finished fourth with a time of 1:23.80.

Also earning a fourth place finish was Harrison Schmidt in the 200 meter dash with a time of :29.48. Kaylee Lanus placed fourth in the 400 hurdles with her time of 1:20.36 and Brooke Bennett earned a fourth place finish in the high jump, as she cleared a height of 4’5″ for the placing.

Holly Mathews placed fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:59.96 while the Sprint Medley Relay, with Liesel Schwartzkopf, Chelsea Kritzer, Wendy Grimm and Lauren Thatcher, placed fifth with their effort of 2:13.47.

Cassie Gearhart placed sixth in the discus throwing 85’9″ and Kayla Banwart jumped 14’7″ in the long jump for a sixth place finish to round out West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley’s performances.
