Emmetsburg Hosts Lady E-Hawk Relays

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks hosted their own relays this past Thursday, enjoying some of the better weather of the season for the event. The Lady E-Hawks would end up finishing fifth in the team points race in Class A, as LeMars won with 136 points and was followed by Western Christian with 132. Spencer was third with 115 points, while Estherville Lincoln Central was fourth with 108 points and the Lady E-Hawks finished with 89 points.

Pacing the E-Hawks on Thursday were the first place finishes of Nicole Leuer in the 100 meter hurdles, as she won the event with a time of :16.48. Teegan Olson also earned a first place finish in the discus, as she threw the platter 87’11” to win that field competition. Emmetsburg’s shuttle hurdle relay squad also earned a first place finish with its time of 1:10.40.

Earning second place finishes for the Lady E-Hawks on Thursday were Jacque Carlson in the discus, throwing 83’11” and Morgan Vlasman in the high jump, as she cleared a height of 4’10”. The Lady E-Hawks’ 4×200 relay would also earn a second place finish with its’ time of 1:53.58 in the relay.

A third place finish was won by the Distance Medley relay, as they finished in 4:55.59, while the Sprint Medley Relay also took a third place finish with its’ tie of 1:58.64. The 4×100 relay would turn in a time of :52.57 to also place third on the day.

Jayme Penrod would earn fourth place in the high jump, clearing 4’8″ in the competition and Teegan Olson would place fourth in the shot put with a throw of 32’3″.

The 4×400 relay would place fifth with a time of 4:34.12 and the 4×800 relay also placed fifth with a 12:11.32 clocking.

Whitney Kibbie earned fifth place overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a finish in :17.91 while Jordan Kerber took fifth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of :13.79. Kaity Degen turned in a jump of 14’7″ in the long jump to place sixth overall and Rachel Ruddy would finish seventh in the long jump, jumping 14’2″.

Morgan Vlasman placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of :14.29 and Madison Reimer finished seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of :31.44. Tayler Bruns finished eighth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:14.79, while Shelby Brindley finished eighth in the 800 meter run with her time of 2:52,54.

Rounding out Emmetsburg’s finishes on Thursday were Kaitlin Weisbrod in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:10.40 for ninth place and Kendall Deitering in the 200 meter dash with a :32.38 clocking for ninth place.

After competing in Monday’s Lakes Conference Track Meet, the Lady E-Hawks will compete this Thursday, weather permitting, in the Class 1A Regional Track Meet at Armstrong with the hopes of qualifying for the State Track and Field Championships, which will be run on May 19-21 at Drake Stadium at Drake University in Des Moines.
