Lady E-Hawks Third At Sheryl Maahs Relays
SPIRIT?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawk track team earned a third place finish at Tuesday’s Sheryl Maahs Relays in Spirit Lake. Emmetsburg placed third with 53 points behind Algona and Estherville Lincoln Central in the event.
Emmetsburg earned a pair of first place finishes on the day, anchored by the :13.2 finish in the 100 meter dash by Jordan Kerber. Rachel Ruddy also took a first place finish in the high jump, coming up with a height of 5’2″ to win the event.
Morgan Vlasman would finish second in the 100 meter dash with her time of :13.4, while Nicole Leuer took second place honors in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :16.6.
The Lady E-Hawks’ 4×100 relay, comprised of Vlasman, Leuer, Kerber and Jayme Penrod, took second place with a time of :52.54 and the 4×200 relay would finish second as well, turning in a :54.35 clocking.
The Sprint Medley Relay also finished second with their :58.63 clocking. Teegan Olson would earn a fourth place finish in the discus competition with a throw of 78’10” and then earned sixth place in the shot put, throwing the orb 31’4″.
Jacque Carlson placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 76’11” and Hillary Pico earned eighth place in the shot, throwing 30’4″.
Hannah Priest finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of :67.51 and Kaity Degen would finish in sixth place in the long jump after leaping 13’8″ . Morgan Vlasman earned a fifth place finish in the high jump, clearing 4’6″ and edged out teammate Jaymee Penrod, who also cleared 4’6″ to finish sixth overall.
Whitney Kibbie collected a sixth place finish in the 100 meter hurdle event with her clocking of :17.45, while Tayler Bruns finished seventh in the 1500 meter run.
Other finishes included Madison Reimer finishing ninth in the 200 meter dash and Rachel Ruddy finishing tenth in the 200 meter dash, while Taylor Reimer finished eighth in the 800 meter run.
Emmetsburg’s shuttle hurdle relay placed fourth with a time of :73.41, while the 4×800 meter relay finished fifth with a time of 12.04.62 and the Distance Medley Relay placed fifth with a time of 5.09.99.
In the junior varsity competition, Hadley Egland was second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :17.89 and Aly Berven was fourth with an :18.24 time.
Madison Reimer placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of :14.73 and Haley Gore-Harris placed eighth with a time of :15.97. Madison Reimer finished sixth in the 200 meter dash in a time of :31.37 and Rachel Ruddy was tenth.
Jacque Carlson placed second in the JV?shot with a throw of 28’2.5″ and Britni Will was second in the discus, throwing 78’9″, while Rachel Schroeder finished fifth with a throw of 70’5″. Shelby Brindley placed fourth in the long jump, leaping 12′.5″, while the JV?4×100 was third with a :59.36 time and the 4×200 finished fifth.
The Lady E-Hawks will host the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawk Invitational tonight (Thursday) at the Emmetsburg High School athletic complex. All events will get underway this evening starting at 5 p.m.
