Lady E-Hawks Golfers Play Well In Outings
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawk golf squad is playing well as the links season winds down. On Saturday, the girls played at the Bishop Garrigan Invitational and on Monday, Emmetsburg hosted Spencer and Algona in a triangular at the Five Island Golf Course.
Saturday saw Emmetsburg finished third in the six-team event behind Bishop Garrigan and Clear Lake, who tied with348 stroke totals. Emmetsburg finished with a 412 and was followed by Algona with a 427, Forest City with a 434 and Garner-Hayfield with a 528.
Hannah Drost led Emmetsburg’s efforts on Saturday with rounds of 45 and 46 for a 91, while Megan Myers carded rounds of 49 and 45 for a 94. Ashley Pelzer had a 50 and 56 for a 106, while Nikki Schany shot rounds of 61 and 60 for a 121. Aleysha Schutz carded a 60 and 64 for a 124 and Chelsey Rouse added rounds of 69 and 71 to tally a 140.
Returning to their home links on Monday, the Lady E-Hawks defeated Spencer and Algona in a triangular, carding a 200 stroke score. Algona followed with a 207 and Spencer carded a 216.
Hannah Drost won medalist honors off a handicap tiebreaker with a round of 47, while Algona’s Heather Zeisman was runner up with a 47.
Following Drost for the Lady E-Hawks was Ashley Pelzer with a 50. Megan Myers added a 51 and Aleysha Schutz carded a 51, while Paige Naig shot a 57 and Nikki Schany added a 61.
In the JV match, Emmetsburg was third with a 284 behind Algona’s 247 and Spencer’s 229.
Chelsey Rouse led the JV with a 62, while Staci Schmeling and Jenna Wolff both shot rounds of 72. Molli Schmeling carded a round of 78 and Josie Wickman carded a 79.
The Lady E-Hawks will play at Spencer on Thursday, May 5.
