Lady E-Hawk Golfers Battling Tough In Matches
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawk golfers earned a split in triangular meets in the past week. On April 18 at Hull, the Lady E-Hawks shot a 228 to trail ELC with a 220 and defeat Western Christian with a 232.
Emmetsburg was led by Hannah Drost with a 52, while Ashley Pelzer shot a 56 and Chelsey Rouse shot a 59. Aleysha Schutz carded a 51, while Katie Kassel added a 63 and Paige Naig shot a 71. In the JV, Emmetsburg got an 80 from Becca Schmeling, an 85 from Molli Schmeling and rounds of 74 from Josie Wickman and Jenna Wolff.
On Monday, April 25, Emmetsburg battled Humboldt and Eagle Grove, but won with a 201 to best Humboldt’s 231 and Eagle Grove’s 268 stroke totals.
Megan Myers would earn the honors with a round of 46, while Nikki Schany carded a 49. Hannah Drost and Ashley Pelzer both shot rounds of 53, while Aleysha Schutz carded a 63 and Chelsey Rouse added a 66 for the varsity.
For the junior varsity, Paige Naig carded a 70, while Jenna Wolff shot a 72. Katie Kassel added a 75, while Staci Schmeling added a 76. Molli Schneling shot an 84 and Josie Wickman carded an 86.
“To start getting huge contributions from our reserves is really a great boost to us,”?admitted Head Coach Ted Riley. “That shows great promise for our squad that the reserves can step up and help us.”
Riley continued, “While we can’t do anything about the weather, we can keep working hard and control our efforts an see what will happen.”
The Lady E-Hawks will play in the county tournament this Friday at West Bend. Action will begin at 4 p.m.
