Lady Wolverines Win Richard Ryan Relays
WEST?BEND – The Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley won the Richard Ryan Relays in Gowrie on Tuesday, taking eight event wins and six second place finishes. Jessica Abrahamson won both the shot and discus, while Kaley Lempke took the 100 meter dash title, as well as running in two first-place finishing relay events. Kenzie Grimm earned the championship in the 200 meter dash and anchored a pair of first-place sprint relays for the Lady Wolverines on their way to the team title.
The championship efforts broke down like this: Kaley Lempke ran a :13.27 to win the 100 meter dash, while Kenzie Grimm ran a :27.54 to win the 200 meter dash. Jessica Abrahamson threw the shot 36’6″ and the discus 98’5″ to win the events.
The 4×100 relay, with Kaley Lempke, Meredith Collins, Harrison Schmidt and Kenzie Grimm, was first in :53.48. The 4×200 relay, with Shayla Simms, Meredith Collins, Kaley Lempke and Kenzie Grimm, was first in 1:52.39
The 4×800 relay, comprised of Erin Larson, Sarah Berte, Jacquelyn Origer and Portlind Schmidt was first in 11:41.13 and the Sprint Medley relay, with Harrison Schmidt, Meredith Collins, Ashley Schmidt and Shayla Simms took first in a time of 2:05.65.
Shayla Simms was second in the 100 meter dash in :13.63 and Portlind Schmidt took second in the 1500 meter run with a 5:46.16. Kaylee Lanus was second in the 400 hurdles with an :84.01 time and in the discus, Cassie Gearhart took second with a throw of 98’3″.
The 4×400 relay of Kayla Banwart, Ashley Schmidt, Lauren Thatcher and Harrison Schmidt took second in 4:41.13 and the Distance Medley Relay, with Ashley Schmidt, Kayla Banwart, Harrison Schmidt and Brooke Bennett finished second with a 5:00.6 effort.
Brooke Bennett was third in the 3,000 meters with a 12:43.28, while Melanie vote was third in the 400 hurdles in 1:27.91. Kayla Banwart took third in the Long Jump, leaping 14’2.25″.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay quartet of Melanie Vote, Haley Banwart, Kaylee Lanus and Kayla Banwart took third in a time of 1:24.99.
Haley Hiscocks was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 32’4.25″ and Lauren Thatcher took fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of :70.79.
Kaylee Lanus would earn fifth place in the Long Jump by leaping 12’11.50″ and Sarah Berte rounded out the Lady Wolverines’ placings with a time of 2:56.01 in the 800 meter run to finish in sixth place.
West Bend-Mallard/TRV will compete this Friday in the Clay Central-Everly Maverick Relays, which will be run at Spencer.
