E-Hawk Thinclads Open Season At Lakes Indoor
STORM?LAKE – The track and field season opened last week for Emmetsburg’s girls and boys track squads at the Lakes Conference Indoor meet. The event was run on March 22 at the Lamberti Recreation Center at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks collected a first place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay to pace their first outing of the season. The quartet of Jordan Kerber, Whitney Kibbie, Aly Berven and Nicole Leuer finished a full second ahead of the field with a :42.11 in the 60 meter event.
The 4×200 relay group, comprised of Morgan Vlasman, Kaity Degen, Jordan Kerber and Nicole Leuer placed third with a 1:57.80 clocking and the 4×400 relay, with Whitney Kibbie, Caitlin Weisbrod, Kaity Degen and Hadley Egland, placed fifth in a time of 4:40.95. The 4×800 relay squad of Madison Reimer, Taylor Reimer, Rachel Ruddy and Tayler Bruns finished sixth in a time of 12:19.93.
Other solid finishes came from the 55 meter dash competitors, as Morgan Vlasman, Jayme Penrod and Jordan Kerber finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectfully, with times of :08.00, :8.01 and :08.02, while Hannah Priest was 10th in :08.23 and Aly Berven finished 13th in a time of :08.40.
Whitney Kibbie and Nicole Leuer finished fifth and sixth in the 55 meter hurdles with times of :10.00 and :10.20, respectively.
Hadley Egland earned fourth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of :29.48, while Kendall Deitering was 20th in :32.47. Madison Reimer finished 26th with a time of :33.41 and Rachel Ruddy was 28th with a :33.93 clocking.
Miranda Vlasman ran a 2:56.01 for 13th place in the 800 meter run, while Tayler Bruns was 17th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:30.69.
The JV 4×200 relay, with Madison Reimer, Rachel Ruddy, Kendall Deitering and Hannah Priest, was 16th with a time of 2:08.42.
In the field events, Morgan Vlasman tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing 4’4″. Tegan Olson took fifth in the shot put, throwing 3’11”. Hillary Pico threw the orb 28’8.5″ to place 15th, while Jacque Carlson threw 26’6.5″ for 19th place.
In the long jump, Jayme Penrod earned 10th place with a leap of 13’7.5″. Kaity Degen jumped 13’3″ to finish 14th, while Rachel Ruddy had a jump o f12’8.75″ for 17th place and Kendall Deitering finished 21st with a leap of 12’2.25″.
The E-Hawks had a tie for first place in the 55 meter dash, as Cory Schultes tied for the top placing with a time of :06.98 with LeMars’ Zach Reed.
The E-Hawk shuttle hurdle relay squad, made up of Jacob Stubbs, Austin Oppenheimer, Chad Loomis and Ryan Kliegl, took second place overall with a time of :36.94 Emmetsburg’s Brady Berkland took fourth place in the 55 meter dash with a time of :07.01. Cory Schultes would earn second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of :24.16, while Brady Berkland took fourth in :24.76. Ryan Kliegl was fifth with a :24.99 effort and Allen Jensen placed sixth with a time of :25.06.
In the 55 meter hurdles, Ryan Kliegl earned second place with a time of :08.50, while Cody Henderson was third with a time of :08.78. Austin Oppenheimer would finish ninth with a time of :09.33. Allen Dunnick placed eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.33, while Austin Lietz was 19th in the 1600 meter run with a 5:45.26 effort. Joe Jackson was 25th in a time of 6:20.75 and Tristan Janssen finished 26th with a time of 6:44.72.
The 4×800 relay, comprised of Joe Jackson, Tristan Janssen, Joel Hoyman and Austin Lietz, finished sixth overall with a time of 10:01.05. In the 4×400, the JV relay of Cody Henderson, Joel Hoyman, Brady Garrelts and Allen Dunnick were 12th in a time of 4:04.99 and the second JV relay of Aaron Bird, Brandon Elbert, Shay Mortenson and Allen Jensen, placed 15th with a time of 4:22.74.
In the field events, Brady Berkland took fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 18’8″, while Brady Christensen was 18th with a 16’4.25″ effort.
Cody Henderson finished eighth in the high jump, clearing 5’6″ in the junior varsity division.
In the shot put competition, Andrew Garrelts earned 11th place, throwing 39’4″. Pat Brennan was 31st, throwing 30’2″, while Tyler Henson threw 29’11” for 32nd place and Parimal Patel threw 29′ to finish in 34th place.
The E-Hawks and Lady E-Hawks will open their outdoor competition season next Monday, April 4, by hosting an earlybird triangular with Spencer and Estherville Lincoln Central in Emmetsburg. Events will get underway at 4:30 p.m.
