WEST?BEND – The Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard capped off a busy week of hardwood action Saturday with a sweep over Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne at Wesley.
In the girls contest, the Lady Wolverines earned a 55-30 decision over CWL, while the Wolverines picked up a big 60-38 victory over the Panthers.
Coach Eugene Ruppert’s Lady Wolverines took and early lead and played a steady offensive contest, scoring 17 points in each of the first three quarters before turning the game over to the reserves in the final quarter.
Jessica Fehr recorded the double-double for West Bend-Mallard with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Kayla Banwart added seven points, while Jessica Abrahamson scored six and McKenzie Grimm tallied five points. Wendy Grimm tallied four points, with Mackenzie Banwart, Courtney Bargman, Sarah Mader and Harrison Schmidt all adding two points.
The boys game played out nearly the same, with the Wolverines putting the game away in the third quarter with 26 points on their way to the 60-38 win.
Chris Schmidt also tallied a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Taylor Foley added 16 points. Mitch Bonnstetter and Ryan Banwart both added six points to the effort, while Jason Zinnel chipped in five points. Jesse Zinnel scored four points , while Greg Mader and Kolten Goodchild both sank free throws in the winning effort for the Wolverines.
