Lady E-Hawks Close Regular Season

SPIRIT?LAKE – The regular season came to a disappointing close for Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks in a hard-fought, 35-31 loss to Spirit Lake on Tuesday night. The setback gives Coach John Kennedy’s team a Lakes Conference mark of 4-10 and a 7-13 record on the season.

Emmetsburg got off to a solid start in the contest, scoring 14 points in the opening quarter, but the second quarter saw the Lady E-Hawks’ offense run completely out of gas in a scoreless effort.

The second half opened with Emmetsburg struggling to fight back and restart the offense, scoring six points before adding 11 points in the final stanza but coming up four points short at the final horn.

Paige Naig would lead the offense with 13, while Justine Kummer added seven points. Faith Schmidt scored five points nd Kaity Degen added four markers with Nicole Leuer chipping in two points.

Emmetsburg will open the post season this Saturday night, Feb. 12, when they travel to Estherville for the first-round of regional play against Estherville Lincoln Central. The opening tip-off is at 7 p.m.
