Lady E-Hawks Down Storm Lake, Then Fall

Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks picked up a split in games last week. A weather-delayed game on Thursday turned into a win, but Friday’s matchup went down in defeat to give Emmetsburg a 7-12 mark overall and 4-9 Lakes Conference mark.

Thursday the Lady E-Hawks downed Storm Lake on the road by a 54-41 margin. Emmetsburg led 20-8 after one quarter and 33-20 at the intermission. In the third the Tornadoes closed the gap to nine at 40-31, but in the final quarter, pulled away for the 54-41 win.

Paige Naig had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Nicole Leuer added a trio of three’s to tally 13 points. Kaity Degen added 10 points, while Justine Kummer scored eight and Faith Schmidt added six.

On Friday, the outcome wasn’t as good, as Emmetsburg fell to Western Christian by a 36-49 score.

The Lady E-Hawks struggled defensively against the Wolfpack but played hard in the contest. Nicole Leuer would score a trio of threes and tally 12 points, while Paige Naig added 11 points. Faith Schmidt had six, with Justine Kummer and Kaity Degen both scoring four and Whitney Kibbie adding two points.
