Lady E-Hawk JV Battling In Contests
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawk junior varsity squad wrapped up the first half of their campaign with a 1-5 mark at the holiday break, but have played hard in each contest, according to JV?Coach Shawn Connelly.
The season began against Pocahontas with Emmetsburg taking a 14-6 lead at halftime, but say the advantage slip away to fall in a close, 28-24 loss. Jacque Carlson led the effort with eight points and seven boards, whle Amy Schultes added four points and eight boards. Whitney Kibbie added four points and dished out three assists and made three steals. Taylor Reimer scored four points, while Tegan Olson and Hadley Egland each added two points.
Next up for the Lady E-Hawks was a meeting with Cherokee. The game was another hard-fought battle that saw the Lady E-Hawks fall by a 33-28 final score. Amy Schultes and Tegan Olson would lead the offense with eight points each, while Whitney Kibbie and Jacque Carlson both added four points each. Hadley Egland wrapped up the scoring with two points.
Jacque Carlson would pull down 10 rebounds on defense and Hadley Egland added a pair of steals.
Traveling to Estherville Lincoln Central, the Lady E-Hawks struggled to get their offense going against the Midgettes, falling behind 21-7 at the half and eventually falling by a 45-20 score. Turnovers plagued Emmetsburg’s efforts in that game, as ELC forced 28 miscues by the Lady E-Hawks in the loss.
Emmetsburg was led by Jacque Carlson’s seven points iwth Tegan Olson adding four points. Hannah Van Oosbree scored three points, while Whitney Kibbie, Chelsea Forry and Hadley Egland all scored two points.

Good things come to those who are patient and the Lady E-Hawks were finally rewarded for their hard work with a 32-20 win over North Sentral Kossuth, leading the entire game. Tegan Olson and Hannah VanOosbree would pace the offensive efforts with eight points each in the win, while Whitney Kibbie added seven points and Taylor Reimer chipped in four markers. Jacque Carlson added three points and Hadley Egland dropped in a bucket for two points.
On defense, Tegan Olson snagged 11 boards while Hadley Egland dished out five assists and made eight steals.
Returning back into conference play, the Lady E-Hawks ran into a buzzsaw in the form of LeMars, as they were defeated 47-22. Full-court pressure on the Lady E-Hawks by LeMars forced 37 turnovers and put Emmetsburg in a 32-9 hole at the intermission.

The first half of the season closed on the road at Spencer but suffered from some cold shooting that would lead to a 49-27 loss.
After playing close in the first quarter to trail 12-7, Emmetsburg could only get a free throw in the second stanza and trailed 26-8 at the half. Emmetsburg would battle in the second half but could come no closer than the 49-27 final.
Jacque Carlson would lead the way with nine points, while Hannah VanOosbree and Tegan Olson both added seven points and 10 rebounds each to the cause. Taylor Reimer and Hadley Egland each added two points to the coffers.
“Even though we lost that last game before the break, we took some good things going into the second part of the season,”?noted Coach Connelly. “That includes going to the free throw line 27 times, but we were only able to cash in on seven of the 27 free throws, but the squad finished with a season-high 37 team rebounds.”
